CUET Language Test Requirement

Choice of Languages

 
You can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together. However, the third language chosen needs to be in lieu of the 6th domain-specific Subject chosen by the candidate - as applicable. Your choice of Language will depend on the requirements of the desired University/ies for the desired course. The question papers of the “Language” tests will be in the language opted for by the candidates. Section IA & IB: Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative [Literary Aptitude & Vocabulary]

Section I A - Languages: There are 13 different languages namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia, and English.  

Section I B - Languages(20): French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese being offered in this section. In case candidates want to choose any other language apart from those offered in Section I A, they may choose from the 20 languages offered.
 

Marking Scheme

 
The CUET Hindi test will consist of 50 questions out of which you are required to answer 40 questions. 45 minutes would be allotted to the candidates for each Language test. Each question would carry five marks & one mark would be deducted for every wrong answer. However, there is no penalty for skipped questions. Therefore the paper would be conducted for a total of 200 marks. The CUET Hindi Test series is meticulously designed as per the latest examination guidelines with a revised pattern of questions that will help you get to familiarize yourself with the CUET examination pattern.
