Common University Entrance Test – 24

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET (UG) - 2024) has been introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities for the academic session 24 under the Ministry of Education, (MoE). The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas, and help establish better connect with the Universities. This single examination will enable the Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to various Central Universities.

CUET 2024 Official Notification Released

The official notification for the conduct of the Common University Entrance Test [CUET (UG) - 2024] for Admission to Undergraduate Programmes into Central Universities and other participating Universities / Institutions / Organizations / Autonomous Colleges – reg. has been released on 9 th February 2024 by the National Testing Agency.

The National Testing Agency has begun the registration process for the Common University Entrance Test, Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024, and candidates can register till March 12 after which a four-day correction window will be available from March 15 to March 18.

Several changes have also been introduced in CUET 2024 by the National testing agency including the Application Fees, Number of Subject choices, etc. As per the notification, Common University Entrance Test (CUET (UG) – 2024) will be conducted in 13 mediums across India for admission into the Undergraduate Programmes in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for all the Central Universities (CUs) and participating Universities in India for the academic year 2023-24. You should attempt CUET mock tests regularly to familiarize yourself with the latest pattern.

Why CUET?

In the past, candidates had this grievance that though they scored 99% in Class XII, they could not get admission to the Universities of their choice. This was basically because of the varied typology of questions and scoring patterns across different Boards in the country.

Earlier, each university had a distinct mechanism for taking admissions into their UG programs. To unify the process, the Education Ministry has assigned National NTA to manage CUET, thereby making the admission process more streamlined, and student-friendly.

  • CUET (UG) -2024 will provide a single window opportunity for students to seek admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) across the country.
  • The exam will provide equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas, and help establish better connections with the Universities.
  • The Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG) will provide a common platform to all the candidates across the country from three National Boards CBSE, AICSE, and NIOS.
  • In the past, students used to be under stress to secure more than 95% marks in Class XII Board Examination to get admission to the University of their Choice. With the introduction of CUET (UG), the stress on them for securing very high marks in the one and only Board Examination will be reduced.
  • The syllabus for the subject/domain tests of CUET (UG) will be based on Class XII so that there is no pressure on the candidates to prepare for both exams.
  • Marks given by different Boards vary widely on account of the typology of questions and the scoring pattern. These things will now get standardized under CUET (UG).
  • CUET (UG) will be held in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where result processing will be done through technology with no human intervention.

The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI) has established the National Testing Agency as an independent under the Societies Registration Act (1860) for conducting efficient, transparent, and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions.
